About us
The A1 Group has been established since 1971 and has recently seen significant growth in all areas of the business. This growth has led to the A1 Group achieving an unrivaled level of commitment and resource to meet client demands in the fields of wet waste disposal, metal recycling, car spares and loo hire.
Our History
A1’s story starts back in 1964, when the Pike Family — Mick, Jean and Russell — moved to Highland Avenue which was a working pig farm. Mick brought in extra money for the family working as a rag-and-bone man. When he wasn’t off on the horse and cart in search of things to buy and sell, he and Russell boosted the family’s income by giving pony rides to children.
A few years later, Silver Birches came on the market and the Pike Family’s hard work paid off. They bought the site, which is where our main scrap yard sits today.

About the yard
Our Wokingham scrap yard is a hive of activity for staff and customers. You’ll find more than 600 vehicles here at any one time, and a huge variety of high quality used car parts to choose from.
You’re free to explore by yourself — our staff will get cars down from the rack and you can retrieve the parts you want. And if you prefer to leave the job to us, we offer a parts removal service.
While you’re here, you can also browse our range of tyres, batteries and alloy wheels. .
Our Fleet
The huge range of stock at our Wokingham scrap yard is replenished daily by our impressive fleet of towing vehicles across the south east.
We’ve got a busy network of vehicles and drivers out on the roads, collecting car spares, scrap cars and metal for recycling.
So when you come to our yard, you can expect to find an unrivalled selection of used car parts to choose from.
Metal Recycling
At A1 Metal Recycling’s full service Wokingham yard, we buy and process up to 500 tonnes of scrap metal each day.
We process both ferrous and non-ferrous metal for resale. Once processed our metal is sold on to end users, and for export, helping us achieve a consistent 99% reuse and recycling rate.

Part-Worn Tyres
We’ve got an exceptional selection of nearly new tyres at half the price you’d pay for brand new. And while our tyres might be second-hand, our service is first-rate. You can expect:

All our part-worn tyres have at least 5mm tread and are pressure tested to make sure you drive away safe and comfortable.
Brand New Tyres
We stock a wide variety of brand new tyres in a range of makes and sizes. From economy to premium, we’ve got tyres to suit every customer from brands like:

Our all inclusive prices cover your tyres, plus fitting, balancing, new rubber valves, and old tyre disposal.

At A1, you’ll find a variety of used alloy wheels in excellent condition. We’ve got a wide range of styles, sizes and colours from brands including:

We sell new and used car batteries suitable for a wide range of vehicles. All our used batteries are tested to ensure they are in good working order.

About A1 Transport
A1 Transport specialises in transporting site accommodation in and around the UK. Our head office is based in Port Talbot, South Wales but we offer services across the UK.
Since our launch in 2021 the company has welcomed 3 HIAB Drivers.
We are currently operating a 32T Volvo with an 85T front loader crane, a 32T DAF with a 65T Crane and also a 32T Volvo with 60T crane. These 3 HIABS are running alongside their Volvo Tractor unit with a 45’ bed.

Abbey Scaffolding (Swindon) Ltd has been operating for over 30 years and are a highly successful, reputable and firmly established business that has consistently enjoyed year on year growth as a direct result of customer satisfaction and repeat business. We operate over a vast section of the south of England and are always happy to offer advice and our expertise when planning and quoting for a project.
Our resources and capability allow us to take on any size project in our operational areas. Abbey Scaffolding is able to provide our customers with a high level of service; all scaffolds are built by fully qualified employees, and will comply with all current legislation.

Abbey Scaffolding (Swindon) invests heavily in the Health and Safety standards within our company. Abbey only uses fully trained, full time, competent labour force. All scaffolders hold CISRS cards. Abbey’s Management have many years experience in the scaffolding industry, qualifications include, NEBOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS, CISRS Scaffold Supervisor and CISRS Advanced Scaffold inspection.
