Sizewell C has appointed McLaren Construction as its construction management partner under a three-year framework agreement covering a series of key on-site infrastructure and accommodation projects in Suffolk.
The appointment will see McLaren Construction oversee and coordinate the delivery of a permanent post-16 college, a temporary accommodation campus, amenity buildings, a project office and an emergency response facility.
The works form part of the wider Sizewell C nuclear power station development, which is currently under construction on the Suffolk coast and is one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
Construction management role across workforce and education facilities
McLaren’s Construction Management and Specialist Projects division will initially support the delivery of the accommodation campus and associated amenity buildings, which will provide facilities for the project’s construction workforce.

The framework also includes oversight of the planned “College on the Coast” in Leiston, a post-16 education facility intended to support skills development in the local area as part of the wider project legacy.
The college is expected to provide new training and education opportunities for young people in the region, where access to further education has historically been limited.
Major workforce and supply chain activity on site
Construction activity at Sizewell C is currently supporting more than 2,000 workers on site each day.
To date, the project has awarded over £3 billion in contracts to more than 400 UK suppliers, including nearly £1 billion to businesses in East Suffolk.
According to project figures, more than 70% of total construction spend is expected to go to UK companies, with the development supporting an average of just under 9,000 direct and indirect jobs annually during the construction phase.

Vince Lydon, Managing Director for Construction Management and Specialist Projects at McLaren Construction, said: “Delivering construction management services for one of the most nationally significant infrastructure projects in the UK is testament to the track record and capability of our team.
Through this framework appointment we are creating long-term local employment opportunities, supporting the community during the construction timeline.”
Damian Leydon, Site Delivery Director at Sizewell C, said: “Only two years after triggering our Development Consent Order, we’re making significant progress onsite here in Suffolk. This contract marks another big step forward, as we look to deliver some key construction projects.
McLaren bring a huge amount of expertise and experience in construction management across a range of projects – so they’re an ideal partner to help us deliver safely, efficiently, and to an extremely high standard.”
Long-term infrastructure and skills investment
The Sizewell C development continues to progress through its main construction phase, with a focus on integrating major infrastructure delivery with local employment, training and supply chain investment across the region.
