A Staffordshire based site manager has been recognised among the UK’s top-performing housebuilding professionals after securing an NHBC Pride in the Job Award for the company’s Octara Court development in Yoxall, Staffordshire.
Neil Dutton, who has worked for Cameron Homes for 10 years, received the award for his work overseeing the eight-home development, placing him among the top 6% of site managers assessed across the UK.
The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are regarded as one of the housebuilding sector’s most recognised quality benchmarks, with winners selected following inspections of 7,500 sites nationwide.

This year’s 450 winners were assessed against criteria including build quality, health and safety, leadership, technical expertise and attention to detail.
NHBC award recognises construction quality standards
Dutton, 50, is currently delivering his seventh development for the Staffordshire-based housebuilder and is also mentoring apprentice Oli Ayres, who joined the business in 2024.
Lewis Brazier, Head of Production at Cameron Homes, said: “We are so proud of Neil for bringing home this award for Octara Court. Pride in the Job recognises site managers who achieve the highest standards in construction and that is exactly what he and his team have delivered at this bespoke development in Yoxall – one of Staffordshire’s most well-known villages.
“Neil’s commitment, leadership, experience, attention to detail and his overwhelming pride in the job are what makes him such an excellent site manager and ambassador for Cameron Homes.”
The award comes as the housebuilding sector continues to focus on raising construction quality standards, skills development and workforce training across residential developments.
Apprentice development highlighted alongside award success
Alongside managing the Octara Court project, Dutton is helping train apprentice Oli Ayres, who joined the company after completing his GCSEs and has been gaining experience across different areas of the business.
The NHBC said the awards recognise site managers who consistently demonstrate high standards across multiple aspects of construction delivery.
Cassandra Codling, Senior Regional Director at NHBC, said: “Winning site managers demonstrate incredible dedication, passion, commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality. The judges look for site managers who go beyond strong performance and demonstrate qualities that lift a good site manager to an exceptional one.
“The competition is at the heart of NHBC’s core purpose to raise standards in housebuilding. It inspires site managers to make their mark on the industry, earning the respect of their peers and leaving a legacy of homes built to the highest quality standards.”
Regional judging stage next for award winners
The Pride in the Job Quality Award winners will now progress to the next stage of the competition, competing for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards later this year before the Supreme Award winners are announced in January 2027.
Octara Court is an eight-home residential development in Yoxall, East Staffordshire, with the homes due for completion during the summer.
